Pitch & Pack guides rely on official sources, and official rules change. If you find something that is wrong, unclear or out of date, tell us. Every report helps keep the guides accurate for the next camper.

How to report a problem

Send an email to [email protected], or use the contact page. Please include:

  • The title or web address of the page.
  • The sentence or number you think is wrong.
  • What you believe is correct, and the official page that shows it.
  • The date you noticed the problem, if a rule seems to have changed recently.

A link to an official source is the most useful thing you can send. A report without one still helps, but it takes longer to check.

How we check a report

We compare the claim with the official source and open the current version of that page. We also check whether the rule is general or applies to only one park, forest or campground.

If the official source supports the correction, we update the guide. If the rule differs from place to place, we may change the wording so the guide says that. If the report is not supported by an official source, we reply and explain what we found.

How long it takes

We read every message sent to this address and aim to reply within about one week. Some checks take longer, for example when an agency page is unclear or has just been updated. We will tell you if that happens.

How a correction appears

When a factual error is confirmed, the guide gets a short correction note with the date of the change. The note says what the guide said before and what it says now. We do not quietly rewrite facts. Small edits, such as fixing a typo or a broken link, may be made without a note.

The standards behind this process are described on the Editorial Policy page.
